The Trans Debate…. are we putting our most vulnerable kids in the middle of a politician-created culture war?

For what it’s worth, I believe kids should be allowed to choose their pronouns and use whichever bathroom they choose, and that this is their call, not their parents’ decision. Yet, I don’t think they should be able to play on any sports team they want, and I feel they should have to wait until at least 19 to have surgery that alters their sexual orientation.

I also feel that public schools should be able to teach about all gender orientations… I think. This is a little complicated, as I’m a progressive, and the public school curriculums align more with my thinking.

So, am I an ally or an enemy to those seeking trans rights?

I think of myself as an ally, but not necessarily because of what I’ve said above. I’m an ally because I want to shut down this whole high-profile public debate, irrespective of what side of it you are on.

Trans rights have become a lightning rod for political debate. It’s become a top ballot box issue, with some state and provincial level elections won and lost on whether we can teach trans issues in school. Fox News screams 24/7 about the leftish indoctrination of our kids.
